There’s a new burlesque site for all Dallas-Fort Worth events. The local website includes both shows and classes in the DFW metroplex. They are asking local producers and performers to submit upcoming events and classes to keep the site updated and current. Monday nights
6:30-7:30 – August Featured Burlesque Workshop (Aug. 9, 16, 23, and 30th) – Insatiable Burlesque
Dance up a storm with classic moves of burlesque in this month’s featured burlesque series: The Insatiable Burlesque Workshop. This 4-class workshop combines characteristic American cabaret and burlesque choreography with the Burlesque Body Sculpt foundation. Classy, chic, and coy describe this playful choreography, incorporating the cabaret style of bowler hats and dance canes. Set to the song “Insatiable†written and recorded by the Verandah Club’s own Cara Young, the Insatiable Burlesque Workshop will sculpt your body while bringing out the inner Cabaret-Burlesque Kitten in you.
***This workshop will be followed with an optional Performance Preparation workshop in September for class attendees to perfect their techniques, with a chance to perform live at a venue in late September.***

EVERY MONDAY NIGHT – Drop-In Beginner Burlesque Class
7:30-8:30 – Burlesque Basics Drop-in class ($20 drop-in for non-members; $15 for members or pre-pay for 4 classes for $45)
The subtle glance of an eye, an isolated roll of a shoulder, a smooth and slow smile, this is the introduction to the theatrical art of the burlesque tease! An introduction of basic dance steps, focusing on simple exercises and combinations, and introduces the concept of performing.Â
Burlesque Basics is an introductory burlesque dance class, focusing basic dance terminology, proper execution of movement, isolations, posture, and performance. This is a great beginning foundation for those new to burlesque dance, or students simply looking for a beginning dance foundation, and anyone who just wants to indulge in a fun burlesque class.Â
Thursday nights
6:45-7:45 – The Hot Seat (Aug 5, 12, 19, 26)Â
“The Hot Seat†(workshop) – Sizzle in The Hot Seat!! Work up a sweat as you sizzle and burn in our July burlesque workshop “The Hot Seat!â€Â from our Summertime Blues Workshop Series! “The Hot Seat†takes Burlesque Body Sculpting to a new level. Beginning with stretching and toning, we then move to sassy burlesque dancing, working with our dance prop of the month: the chair. Learn how to utilize your core to create sultry poses and flirty dance movements in one burlesque dance number taught throughout the session. Chairs will be provided. This is one full body workout you don’t want to miss!

7:45-8:45pm – The Hot Seat Performance Prep class (Aug 5, 12, 19, w/ performance on Aug. 21)
For students who have completed the 4-week Hot Seat Class, this is an opportunity to perform it in a live setting in front of an audience.

Any 4-class series: $45 pre-registration by August 2.  $60 regular registration.
Performance prep classes: $15 per class or $35 for all three

Most murder mysteries are based on the concept of “who dunnit?” This sexy comedy is a case of “will they do it?'” A gay couple decides to hold a most unusual dinner party. They have invited the one person that hurt them the most in their life in order to murder them. The plan is simple: poisoned martinis will be served to the two guests, how complicated can it be? Chaos ensues when an uninvited guest shows up who won’t drink alcohol, one has become a born a gain Christian, and is intending to redeem the Gay couple from their life of sin, and the other will only drink beer. Oh, did we mention that not everyone in this gathering of five is being truthful and they may also have ulterior motives, of which murder is also a part of it? You’ll laugh as you squirm in your seat not knowing if, who, how, and when someone might get murdered!
The play is rated R due to adult language and general misbehavior.

This Velvet Kittens' burlesque workshop begins Wednesday, and runs four consecutive weeks, 7:30 - 8:30 pm (July 21, 28, August 4, and 11). Tuition: $60.00.

About "Fedora Fever I"
This Summertime Blues Burlesque Workshop, themed "Fedora Fever," is all about class and style using the fashionable burlesque prop, the fedora hat. Set to the sultry and steamy blues song "Every Night," trainer Jana Edele, artistic director and choreographer of the Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque, begins with a 30-minute stretching and toning warm-up followed by signature burlesque dance choreography focused on slow hip and shoulder isolations and sultry burlesque movement.

Celebrate National Dance Day by participating in one of the largest burlesque dance classes in the country.
Dallas, Texas – As part of his commitment to support dance education and physical fitness in the United States, Nigel Lythgoe, director, producer, choreographer, philanthropist and former dancer, is launching National Dance Day on “So You Think You Can Dance.” National Dance Day will take place on July 31, 2010. To celebrate, Verandah Club at Hilton Anatole and West Village will host a Burlesque Dance and Body Sculpt class, striving to achieve recognition as the largest burlesque dance class in the country.
The one-hour complimentary class will be held on Saturday, July 31 from 10am to 11am at West Village (3699 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75204), the mixed-use development of young urban dwellers and hip boutiques and restaurants. The class will be held outside in the North Alley between Avalon Salon and PointMobl. Students can wear workout clothes or yoga attire and sneakers. Walk-ups welcome.
