A Very Merry Burlesque Workshop

We wanted to thank all students who have attended any of the Burlesque Body Sculpt classes this year at the Verandah club by offering a FREE 1.5 hour workshop next Monday, December 20th, at 7pm. The class will be a “Teacher’s Choice†class, meaning that it will be a surprise what we are learning that night. Never attended a class before? You are welcome to attend for the low drop-in rate of just $15.

Sculpt de Ballet

In January we will be adding a new class to our schedule at the Verandah Club in Dallas:Â Sculpt de Ballet.
Using barre work and basic ballet movement, sculpt your body to a dancer’s physique!
Read on for additional info with our January schedule at the Verandah Club:
- Jan. 3, one night only workshop, time and dance TBD.

- Next 4-week class series will start on Monday, January 10 at 6:45pm
Â
- The same series will be available for those who prefer to attend on Saturdays starting on January 15 at 1pm
Â
- We are adding a new class called Sculpt de Ballet to the schedule on January 22 at 12:15 (45 minute class). This class will be a $10 drop-in rate for non-members of the Verandah Club.

- Beginning on Monday, January 17, we will have an “Intro†class each week for 30 minutes at 6:15pm. January 17 is Intro to Burlesque Body Sculpt. January 24 is Intro to Sculpt de Ballet. Non-members can attend these classes for a $5 drop-in fee.

Work up a sweat as you sizzle and burn in this BBS workshop “The Hot Seat!â€
“The Hot Seat†takes Burlesque Body Sculpting to a new level. Beginning with stretching and toning, we then move to sassy burlesque dancing, working with our dance prop of the month: the chair. Learn how to utilize your core to create sultry poses and flirty dance movements. This is one full body workout you don’t want to miss! Chairs will be provided. With choreography by Velvet Kittens’ artistic director Jana Edele, this BBS favorite debuted in August 2010 and has been the most requested workshop. If you are unable to attend the workshop dates listed above but still interested in attending a Hot Seat workshop, contact us.

We’ve put together a whole new website dedicated just to the Burlesque Body Sculpt â„¢ classes and workshops!Â
Fort Worth classes begin this Saturday at the Bombshell Boutique and Studio, with 12:30-1:30 pm beginner class Walkin’ and Struttin’. Following Walkin’ and Struttin’ intro class is the Boa Vixen, 1:45-3pm, learning a burlesque dance number with a feather boa to Santa Baby.
Next Dallas workshop is the one-time only Candyland Can-Can.

Fort Worth Classes

Student Performance
Students will be performing at our annual variety charity show Candyland: A Night of Sweets! on December 11th, 10:30 pm, at the Stone Cottage Theatre. We will be opening reservations for this show to the public next week.

Your Official Invitation to the Burlesque Nutcracker

The Burlesque Nutcracker officially opens this Friday, and You are invited to partake in this annual lampoon of a holiday classic! This year the Burlesque Nutcracker will perform it’s 100th show!  In fact, this Nutcracker performs more shows than any other version in DFW, and you will never look at the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy the same way again!Â

The Burlesque Nutcracker (from MBS Production’s The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents: A Bur-less-Q-Nutcracker) is based on the VK’s original Vaudevillian-Burlesque Nutcracker and stars it’s own Velvet Kitten cast.Â
MBS Artistic Director Mark-Brian Sonna and VK Artistic Director Jana Edele are the choreographers behind the Burlesque Nutcracker and their work has been described as “ingenious, inspired and amusing. By turns graceful and bawdy, with just the right balance of edification and dance-hall shimmy.” The Burlesque Nutcracker, directed by Charles Ballinger, opens November 26 and runs thru December 26. These show sale out fast, so get your tickets in advance.
