Casting Call: Dancers & Singers

About The Velvet Kitten Revue Show…
The show is centered on a modernized version of the vaudevillian burlesque shows from the late 1800’s to the early 1920’s.
The show consists of a variety of music, jazz music from vaudeville in its heyday, modern rock, cabaret tunes, and Broadway classics. The dancing styles changes with the music, but always keeps a tongue in cheek burlesque feel.
The costuming reflects the naughtiness and humor of the old vaudevillian shows. Some pieces are more classic, and others catch the trendiness of the present. The aim of the show is naughtiness and humor, with style and class. The draw of the show is talent, skill, and great performances.
Dancers : The dance audition consists of a short jazz combination. Please come performance ready (hair/make-up) and dress in dance attire. Leotards or short shorts/hot pants preferred. Most dances are performed in high heels, though not necessary for the audition. I am looking for dancers trained in ballet and jazz.
Singers: Must be able to sing a variety of music, from old jazz standards, Broadway, to modern rock. Please bring 2 contracting songs on cd. No pianist is provided at the audition.
Performers can audition for both roles of singer and dancer, or just one of the roles.
The Kittens perform revue shows every 2 weeks at Cafe’ Rembrandt in Dallas (West End). The dancers (and sometimes singers) also perform at club openings, special event, and promo opps.
We have a lot of exciting opportunities coming up, and we ask that all auditionees be comfortable with media exposure.
Feel free to contact us with any questions, or to schedule an audition time.
Thank you for your interest.
